"A quiet hotel with a nice onsen on the balcony overlooking the river. Simple alkaline waters, not too hot, elaborate dinners and breakfast with nice sea and river fish dishes, good wifi. Comfortable rooms in a modern building. "

"Great onsen hotel in a peaceful location. Restaurant was nice. The front desk clerk, Imai, was very helpful in helping me in reserving a ferry for later in my trip as my Nihongo was limited. "

"Tried to check out and could not as they did not have staff to take payment. Had to leave to make it to bus in order to catch my train and flight. Has to go to extraordinary lengths to pay them after. Also extremely overpriced for this hotel, would never come back."

"Onsen outside on the river was fantastic and perfect after a day walking. Breakfast was limited and dining options with walking distance very limited. Room was large and traditional Japanese style was extremely comfortable to sleep. "

"The village is a bit dated and this hotel was the best option we felt on paper. While a bit old fashioned it was lovely, clean, provided wonderful service and the outdoor Onsen was mixed so my husband and I could experience it together. We sat in the hot spring at 10pm by the river. It was lovely. The staff helped us understand the etiquette and answered any question we had. They were so kind. We didn’t eat at the hotel but drove 5’minutes to a superb ramen restaurant. Breakfast though was...

"We had a very good night Sansuikan Kawayu Matsuya. They share hot springs and the restaurant with a nearby hotel. Hot springs are the absolute standout: fantastic! Food is good and plentiful. Our room had a brilliant view. All the rest is okay, although the exterior of the building is not nice."

"This is a unique experience to live in a Buddhist temple for one day. Across the street you can find the beautiful Koyasan cemetery. Pure magic.
The dinner and breakfast served was magnificent. We also enjoyed the spa at night.
We are truly grateful for this experience. "

"Everything was excellent, people are very welcoming, nice and kind. The prayer in the morning is not to be missed.
The food is vegan, and it is ok, but surely not the best in Japan.
Overall, I think the whole experience is overpriced. "

"A hidden gem in the world. A game changer for my family. Must do the night cemetery walk! Recommend to do the trip after some of the chaos of the bigger cities as it was such a beautiful shift! "

"This will have to be my most favorite part of my trip to Japan. You will have to intentionally come here for the temple stay. First and foremost, the facility will ONLY ACCEPT CASH payment for the stay. Though my wife and I were not too fond of the shared wash rooms to wash up. I don’t believe the facility has rooms with private wash rooms. The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. They offer traditional breakfast and dinner(vegan friendly, though I am not, very delicious!). Wake up...

"Cool experience to stay in these lodgings. There is a heater in the room but the halls and bathrooms are pretty cold when it’s not warm out. The bath is amazing, so hot and relaxing. The morning prayers were very cool to experience. You do sleep on traditional futons and pillows, so if you’re picky about your pillow you might want to bring your own. The garden in the middle of the temple is beautiful as is the front garden. The check-in window is pretty small so I’d recommend working this into...

"Everything was just great! It made us feel very comfortable. It was helpful that all the staff were capable of communicating with us in English. Since people are coming to experience a true Japanese style of living, be sure to attend the morning prayer service, and the fire ritual. They cost nothing to attend and give a wonderful insight into the culture of Japanese people and Buddhism in particular."
"the place is an island on it's own and looks like a James Bond villain base from the outside. Inside it's got so many baths and just cool areas to explore. The room itself is comfortable and there's even a little convenience store near the front desk so you can get room snacks easily. I picked up some of the pickled plum udon noodles to cook at home and they were delicious!
Meals are a little crowded as they're buffet style but the food itself is amazing and so many different things to try.
I recommend coming here at least once and staying two nights if you can."
"Exceptionally kind and helpful staff. The set breakfast was a standout—grilled fish with a beautiful spread of side dishes. Clean and relaxing onsen with both indoor and outdoor options. Room was comfortable and had a lovely view of the bay. Bonus: separate toilet and bath/shower setup, which was convenient."
"Mixes comfort with Japanese style. The staff very caring and the morning ceremony fill Buddhist gratuito al morning chanting.
The food looks like work of art, though the tasting is complex and, although we are vegetarian, it was something very different. "
"Very friendly staff with amazing view and Onsen. No free pick up from bus stop, we were charged 5000 yen. Double the price for two person occupancy. If you don’t mind the extreme price, it’s a very relaxing stay"
