"A great location for myself who was using the railway station next door quite often to travel around the city and to nearby cities and the surrounding areas. Also very comfortable beds and the rooms were quite spacious for our needs. I also found the staff working on the reception to be very helpful."

"Really liked how it was self service, very easy, beautiful rooms felt so fancy. We had a small issue with our TV, emailed the help desk at 10.30pm and by 10.35 we had a staff member there helping us. Incredible. "

"Had a wonderful 5 night stay at the hotel. I was a bit apprehensive after reading some reviews but i was pleasantly surprised. Lovely welcome from check in staff and given lots of information about the hotel and surrounding area. Hotel lobby is impressive, superior double room was spacious, clean and aircon worked perfectly. Breakfast was plentiful and you can order different eggs/bacon from the waitress. My only very small gripe would be that the toaster took ages so put your toast on whilst you enjoy some cereal! The lifts were mentioned in alot of other reviews, to be honest it would be better if all 3 were working but we never had long to wait and we were on holiday so not in a hurry to get anywhere. Central location right by lots of bars/ restaurants and a very short walk to the Rhine. Loved our visit to the hotel and to Cologne, we will be back to visit you both again"

"Room was very comfortable and bed was one of the best we’d slept in. Rooms were basic but had everything you needed for a short stay. Very clean with fab toiletries and little extras. The only thing I’d say is that the bathroom door could be a little more private due to its transparency when the light is on. Could maybe do with a curtain over it like the shower. Not a great problem as we got used to it but if you like your privacy then it’s something I think guests should be aware of. The location of the hotel was fabulous. Quiet but very central for everything. The staff were amazing and very helpful. Bar area was lovely and kept very neat and clean. We would certainly stay there again. "

Lift stop in front of reception so easy to carry suitcases etc .Room very clean and comfortable. No noise from street .Very close to places of interest River Rhine cathedrals and buses and ferry. Shops and places to eat on same street just outside hotel so very convenient. Did not have breakfast in hotel as a bit expensive."

"The Hotel Niu is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. After a horrific commute into the country, the welcome to the hotel was second to none. Daniel was an absolutely fantastic host on the reception, he asked if I wanted a queen bed, as floors below the 4th floor were 2 single beds pushed together. I asked to have the queen and that was the room we were given. We got breakfast included with our stay and also signed up for the IHG Rewards. Daniel was an incredible host, he made us feel so welcome and he went above and beyond for us. He gave us brilliant recommendations for places to see, eat and drink across Cologne like a local! Sebastian was an equally wonderful staff member who kept us entertained behind the bar every night! He was such a joy to be around and he was so friendly and attentive. The cocktails were also fantastic! I would come back to the Niu simply for these staff members! I also loved the breakfast, it was replenished very regularly, offering a huge variety of options for every taste. The room was a lovely size, enough room for all of our things and the bed was so comfy! I adored everything about this hotel and I would highly highly recommend it!"

"We stayed as a family of four, but since there were no large rooms available, we used two double rooms. The hotel is new and overall very clean. As we traveled by car, access to the city center was no problem. It was a hotel with good cost performance. "

"This is a really nice hotel, in a building that is 100 years old this year. The beds are very comfortable, bathroom facilities are good, with a decent shaving mirror. The breakfast was good and was sufficient for me requiring a vegan menu, although would have liked vegan sausages, but the ham and salami substitutes made up for that. Sadly the area around the hotel has seen better times. The U-bahn station is opposite the hotel’s main entrance and the staircases and elevators stink of urine, and could do with a visit from the Cologne City Cleansing Department. It is also right next to Hansaring S-bahn Station which has connections to Cologne Hauptbahnhof, and other regional stations in the North Rhine-Westphalia region such as Dusseldorf, Aachen, and Koblenz which we visited using the hotel as a base to sleep and have breakfast. It is also less than 1 mile away from the Cologne Cathedral, which is a nice walk down quiet back streets."
