"Great place to stay. Property is very spacious. Staff responded very quickly to my email enquiry. Only thing to note, there is only 1 aircon unit that is in the main lounge covering the whole property. Luckily the weather was not too hot and the bedrooms managed to remain at comfortable temperature. I can see it could be a problem if the weather gets hotter and the doors to the rooms are closed to keep the early morning light out. "

"Staying inside of a renovated bank building in the old downtown with a cool vibe and super high ceilings was fantastic. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was also great with good water pressure and hot water. The staff was super friendly and helpful - plus the hotel has bikes on site for rental which a great way to explore the area. You can also ride the streetcar to get from here to the 5-star bastion fortress park and other areas. The red brick warehouse tourist / shopping area is just...

"Loved this hotel! Staff were helpful and friendly, and the breakfast is amazing - incredible seafood and other options - probably the best hotel breakfast we’ve had! The hot spring spa on the top floor offers a great view along with a clean and comfortable experience. Some of the tile is getting a little dated, but overall it’s great. We wish we had a Japanese style room, but there weren’t many listed on the Hotels.com website.

"Best breakfast ever. Nice combination of city hotel and hot spring resort. I’d love to stay again if I get an another opportunity to visit Hakodate. "

"Very clean and spacious home, checkin process was smooth, our host would video call us to make sure we understand the rules or need help. The house was very clean too, we enjoyed our stay very much!"

"Aesthetically absolutely beautifully designed interior, however not so functional. We stayed over the new year so it was cold/dry weather so we wish they had humidifiers.
The beds are extremely comfortable unlike the beds at the major hotels so we were able to get rest well to recover from 13 hours flight.
Unfortunately unlike other guests, we didn't get response from the owner quickly. We got a response 3 days after we checked out which was not a big deal anyway. "

"Second time I stayed here (last year it was Flexstay Inn). The only issues were this spikey metal coil I found in the carpet and removed myself (not too bad), and the toilet seat dipped down on the left side when you sit down. Otherwise a perfect stay. Thank you!"

You can also ride the streetcar to get from here to the 5-star bastion fortress park and other areas. The red brick warehouse tourist / shopping area is just a block away. The ropeway to get a view from the nearby mountain, and many interesting churches are also within easy walking distance. Highly recommended. Although the hotel shows a bit of minor scuffs in the rooms, it just provides character to an otherwise great choice."
"Parking was taken care of by personnel who reserve a spot on arrival and during our stay there. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and full of choices in a spacious dining hall. Room was value for money. Location was good as access to city was easy. Staff at hotel was very helpful."
"Plenty of food options but some are located far from hotel
Traditional Japanese bed mattress is on thin side compared to other hotels we’ve stayed in"
"Great hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Room is spacious. Parking lot right next to hotel building. Walking distance to Hakodate Morning Market. Highly recommended!"
"This was a newer hotel and it was very nice! The lobby was beautiful and the room was small but great! The staff was very professional and helpful. We were able to walk to the Hakodate Ropeway and some restaurants near the red brick warehouse. I would recommend this hotel and would love to stay here again when we visit Hakodate!!"
"This hotel has a good seafood buffet breakfast as well as a free sight seeing bus. If you’d like to go the night viewing of Mt. Hakodate on the free bus, you need to reserve for the weekends, well in advance. We went for the sunset viewing only on the free bus. Very friendly and staff. The coin laundry was easy to use and cashless. There is also a very convenient grocery store behind the hotel and a few minutes from the Hakodate train station. "
"Overall property condition is pretty new and very clean, bathroom is a bit small but setup very creatively to maximize space utilization. Location is close to tram tracks, so can be a bit noisy. Room has a washer only, no dryer, limited hangers to dry clothes maybe provide a foldable drying rack so that guests can put it out on the balcony in the summer or in the room as the room is pretty spacious (we have kids so we have more clothes to wash) "
"We are a family of 4 (husband, wife, 8 yr old boy and 1.5 yr old boy). We stayed in this property for 4 days and 3 nights. The property is in excellent condition and very clean (tiptop clean). It is a seaside property and the view of both the city and the sea is spectacular. Although there are only 4 of us, it can accomodate up to 7 people. It has 2 queen beds and 3 twins which is ideal for a big family. The parking accross the road can accomodate 3 big cars or vans. We rented a car on the entire duration of our stay. Driving is preferred because we don't know how to get around. They also have taxi or uber in the area if you prefer not to drive. I don't know about the bus. It looks like a long walk to the bus stop. All the attractions and restaurants are close by (driving). I would love to just stay in the place and just relax but we only have limited time to visit the city. Sunset and night lights are beautiful. The check in and check out process is also easy and straight forward. There are rules that are typical to Japanese hotel/household which is easy to follow. Only drawback is we should have stayed 1 more day to just enjoy the house. Thanks Nesaki Native. We will definitely go back! PS: We only used 1 bed because the floor is so clean that my boys opted to just sleep in the floor mats with blankets."

The location is convenient to shops and restaurants, and it would be even better if there was a hotel van to go to and from the train station. "
Hakodate Yunokawa Onsen Umi to Akari / Hewitt Resort
10/10 Excellent
"Phantastic stay. The roof onsen is great and although the Hotel was rather busy during my stay there was always room in the hot bath ( not crowded ) and for dinner may be 1 or 2 min waiting at the most. DO NOT MISS the dinner.. absolutely great.. stay with the all you can drink plan and you are doing more than fine! Absolutely recommendable hotel… tons of parking on top.. only 6 min by car from the airport!"
"It’s a typical Japanese hotel mostly catered to Japanese. The staff are very polite and friendly. The room is very clean but on the small size which is typical of Japanese hotels. The breakfast is delicious. Parking is easy with the hotel parking lot. Another big advantage is laundry facilities right at the hotel which we took advantage of. "
"If you're visiting Hakodate, then odds are you have stayed at some APA hotel at some point in your life. You stay at APA because it's affordable and well kept up, which holds true here as well.
I've stayed in a handful of APA locations, and this location has the best customer service I've experienced at any APA.
As for the building, it's probably older, but you wouldn't know because both the room and hallway are in great condition. They clearly have renovated or replaced over the years."
"Stayed for one night as a stopover between Hokkaido and Tokyo. I had a corner twin room on the top floor, which was very spacious and quiet. The location is excellent—easy access to everything. I didn’t need to take any transportation during my stay and was able to walk everywhere, even as far as Motomachi. You can even see the JR station from the top floor hallway window. Perfect for a short, convenient stay in Hakodate."
"We wanted to conclude our four week stay in Japan with something special and it was! This ryokan was so beautiful and the staff was outstanding. Our room was spacious and well appointed. The onsen was also spacious and the baths fabulous. Breakfast was delicious and authentic. We couldn't be happier. A wonderful memory!"
