The grounds of the property were beautiful. The room however had a horrible bed. There was a fridge in the room but no glasses to drink from. This property was close to other houses with dogs. The dogs were barking most of the night.

We were warmly welcomed to this pretty hotel set on a hill lush with trees and flowering plants. The pool is inviting and breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed a beautiful drive to Atenes along a good road (Route 3 through San Mateo) from the west, and it was an easy shot to SJO airport the next day. We had a delicious traditional Costa Rican dinner at El Fogon Campesino. Only caveat might be for someone who craves total silence. As in many places in Costa Rica, bird and animal sounds abound in the early morning! Atenes is famous for its climate, and we were very comfortable, even wanted a light wrap in the evening.

I was a solo female traveler and had a great stay at Eden Atenas. The property is beautiful and peaceful, and bed was very comfy. The only challenge is that the property was a bit tricky to find even with directions – could use better signage at the turnoff and at the property entrance.

After flying into San Jose, we wanted a place to stay outside of the city on our way to the coast, and this was perfect! The host is so kind and the breakfast was very good. The gardens and pool area are a magical Eden indeed! Thank you, Eden Atenas! We hope to return one day with our baby :)

We stayed at Eden Atenas the night before flying home and are so glad we did. The staff are wonderful and friendly and even helped us order a pizza to be delivered as we didn’t want to leave once we had arrived. The complimentary breakfast provided was outstanding. The rooms are simple yet very comfortable with no need of AC. And the lush landscaping, beautiful pool and abundance of many different birds was a bonus. We will definitely stay here again!

Eden Atenas is a great stopover if you're touring Costa Rica, or even just looking for a few days out of the city. The property is beautifully landscaped and you'll wake up to an orchestra of birds (also the nightly rooster's call!) and a view of lush mountain foliage. You will receive the most delicious and freshly made breakfasts, with some seasonal fruits picked from the property itself. And the hotel manager is as kind, hospitable and gracious as she is knowledgeable and helpful. She also has a wealth of knowledge about local flora and fauna, and the property's amazing garden (really, a botanical garden in its own right). Sure, the WIFI could have been better and the beds a little bigger. The property has modest rooms with the bare bones (don't expect TV's and AC's--though a fan kept us cool even on the hottest nights). But everything is well maintained and very clean. And you'll be pampered and nourished in other ways. My husband and I are definitely looking forward to staying there again, on our next visit to Atenas/CR.
