As a frequent guest of five-star hotels, I rarely leave reviews—whether positive or negative. However, I believe it is important to share my recent experience at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Istanbul – Piyalepasa, as it involved both areas of concern and commendable service.
Upon arrival just after midnight, I was unexpectedly asked to provide a 100 EUR deposit for the minibar, which was surprising given that minibar charges are typically settled at checkout based on actual usage. Additionally, I inquired about a room upgrade, and was quoted 110 EUR by the night shift staff. He invited me to view the room the following morning before making a decision. However, when I returned the next day, a different staff member quoted 250 EUR for the same upgrade. This significant discrepancy in pricing and lack of internal communication was both confusing and unprofessional.
Unfortunately, my overall experience with the front desk staff was not positive. Their attitude lacked warmth and hospitality, and at times they gave the impression that they were above assisting guests. This is not the level of service I would expect from a Hilton-branded property.
The breakfast offering also fell short of expectations. The hot buffet was extremely limited, with no availability of basic items such as fried eggs, and overall selection did not meet the standard of a five-star hotel. This is an area that requires cl
