First time visiting New Zealand, and this Mount Eden Motel was my first stop place for my week stay in NZ. Friendly folks at the front office and very nice place for the great price. The room was dated but spacious, clean and functional. The staff were pleasant and went out of their way to be helpful. The location is close to Mt Eden's walking/jogging routes and the views of Greater Auckland from the top are well worth the walk up from the motel. Boutique cafes and restaurants were only a short walk from the motel and a jaunt around the suburb's side streets revealed many gorgeous examples of lovingly maintained and restored colonial houses. We were originally going to stay in the Central Business District (~5 km from Mt Eden) but changed our plans and were so glad we instead stayed in this quaint neighbourhood.
