Historical Hotel

It’s an old historic hotel. The restaurant associated with it is closed. My room was small, certainly nothing fancy, other than a tv, no amenities. Interesting area to wander.

What a great place to stay. I expect we'll stay there again next time we're in the area.

8/10 Very good

It was a very nice place kind staff. Unfortunately is asked to get my room serviced after putting up the door hanger asking to get my room serviced and it never was. I was there for 4 nights. Views were nice and everyone was kind. It was a bit rustic for my taste.

Okay place to stay.

Really neat place with good potential, some areas of the hotel are old and need some refinishing work and carpet. Room lacked modern amenities such as a fridge, not great for someone who has medicine that has to stay cool.

Great location in downtown Frostburg

We had a great stay at Hotel Gunter. The staff were very helpful. We loved all the historic details, including the basement jail! The stairway lobby is a very grand place for photos. We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony. The location was perfect for walking around town and finding restaurants. We also loved visiting the charming Main Street Books next door.

Keep in mind when you book this hotel ,that it is historic. There is a museum in the basement and remnants of the past all over the hotel. Due to limited staffing, there are no people at the front desk after 8pm on some nights. The room was decorated in a victorian style and was clean. This hotel doesn't have a restaurant any longer or ice machines, fridges, microwaves . It's an old hotel. The price was reasonable and I enjoyed my stay. I liked the nostalgia.

The check in was easy and the woman at the front desk had great local recommendations. The restaurant attached to the hotel is fabulous, too!

6/10 Good

Charming, but awful check in.

Very cool historic hotel, comfortable and mostly clean. Check-in is abysmal, starting at 3pm, there is only a person at the front desk for an hour or two, which is crazy. Keys were supposed to be left in lock box, but weren’t. Had to call the owner to come let me in, who was very nice and apologetic, but was still an unnecessary step in my opinion when you could just staff the desk a little longer. The hotel is dated, but I found it charming, however the elevator was sketchy at best, to a point I thought i was going to get stuck in it, and actually did stop working at the end of my stay. I hope ownership can tighten this place up, because I’d love to visit again.

Great. Jane was very supportive and accommodating due to my late arrival.

Skip it

Messaged them twice and called once and then I got a call saying they needed to know when I'll be checking in. They are only at the desk from 3-5pm. After that, you are on your own. Literally. Wanted some ice, no one around, so no ice. No fridge and no microwave in the room. TONS of people live there full time.

It is charming and historical. I felt like I was sleeping at my grandmother’s house (in a good way). Great restaurant and bar attached.

A classy old hotel with an excellent restaurant on the premises. Staff called us to confirm our check-in time. The location was right on the main street in the village, with a great bookstore a few doors down, as well as other businesses. We would definitely stay there again.

Great Stay in Old Hotel

Incredibly helpful and pleasant staff. Rooms were good size, clean and comfortable. Food options onsite and open relatively late and tasty! Definitely worth a second stay.

My first time with this Historic Hotel. The room was comfortable, nostalgic and just what I was looking for. There is no coffee service in the room or elsewhere.
