Catalina Charm

Cute historic hotel. Clean, comfortable and close to shops, restaurants, and the beach. Only wish they had coffee in the morning.

Would definitely stay here again

Had a good stay here, can’t complain especially for the price compared to the other hotels on the island. I would stay here again.

Great price, location and service was great!

It was a good price, great location. Awesome service but unfortunately no AC. I would stay again!!!

Deep sleepers sleep here

We are light sleepers so the walls being thin made it hard to sleep well, and every door closing, footsteps upstairs was clearly heard. Can't beat the pricing and location though compared to other places. So it's a great deal for deep sleepers.

The property is a bit old (think cracking paint and such) but I really enjoyed it. The staff is great and my room was so quiet and peaceful. I had a water view! The area is lovely and safe, I felt comfortable my entire stay and wish I could have stayed longer. I’ll be back! Thanks Mona, Nancy and Maria for a nice relaxing stay!

I’ve come here for 20 years.

I’ve stayed at this hotel off and on for close to 20 years and while it was in need of a renovation when I was younger, it is quite lovely now! Everything was spotless, bed was comfy, good room over all. Front desk ladies were friendly. I believe the sweet owner (?) was there on the porch every morning and waved us goodbye and to have a nice day. I love this place cuz the prices are affordable and the hotel itself is historic and has pleasant accommodations. Will most likely stay here next time we come!

Cute Stay <3

I was skeptical because of the reviews but i LOVED it here! So close to everything! The check in/check out process was fast and the staff was so nice! The place is timeless, cute little oldish hotel (i loved this about it) the bed was comfy, roomy mini fridge. I would definitely book here again. Also, very inexpensive for being mid July!

Staff was friendly but hotel is run down need some remodeling / updating for sure , no ac which I was ok with . The bath tub was peeling if your looking for a cheap stay I would recommend it I don’t recommend if your wanting a nice comfortable stay . I would definitely skip this hotel next time . I must say staff is very friendly.

A little too vintage for my husband and I

The hotel itself is a historic vintage hotel with almost no upgrades over the years at all, which adds to the authenticity and quaint feel but There are zero amenities such as coffee makers in room and air conditioning. The ocean view in our room was amazing and almost made it all worthwhile. But the bed and pillows were incredibly uncomfortable and old that neither of us slept at all. If you’re looking for quaint vintage Catalina this is for you but if you’re expecting any amenities or comfort, go elsewhere.

Great location

Hotel was great location, room was clean, floor above us was very noisy as though they did not have carpeting. Had a lot of issues with their add on roku device working over the Amazon TV. Plus they ran out of ice buckets?

No coffee accessible anywhere. NO HOT WATER ON LAST DAY…terrible! Ceiling fan light continued to randomly come on thruout night…had to disconnect. No one at front desk to help.
Connie, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

No hot water

The water was out and I had to find another hotel immediately. I’m still waiting on my refund. They had time to let me know about the water earlier, they should have called me so I had more time to find another hotel. The last time I stayed at this hotel the tv was out the whole time. Never staying here again.

Victorian Charm in Avalon

First time to Avalon. Loved this Victorian era hotel. Kept up very nicely. I had a 3rd floor room with a harbor view. Clawfoot tub but you can only use the shower function. No A/C, but there is a cieling fan, and the temperature was perfect outside, so keepi g the windows open was enough. It is on the opposite side of the harbor from where the dock is, and up a steep hill for a bit. Not a bad walk thought, but not ideal for an older person or handicap. Also no elevator. But for anyone else, it’s very clean and charming and has reproductions of old images of Catalina around and the staff is very helpful and welcoming. Check out is 11am, but if your boat leaves later, they will let you store your luggage in the lobby. Would definitely stay there again!

6/10 Good

The lights kept turning on randomly in the night, the bed was uncomfortable, the "view" was obscured by dirty windows and screens, the shower was a trickle
1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Very unfortunate event

I couldn’t arrive to the hotel because when you booked they don’t explain that you need to book also the Ferry to get to your destination It was my first time booking hotel at the Island even I tried to contact them couple of times they didn’t answer I explained I couldn’t book Ferry for that day they’re not available they were booked already they just ignored my request for cancellation or get refunded I do even paid extra money for some sort of insurance they offered to prevent this out of your hand situation and for you not to lose your money it was a totally unacceptable situation and wrong decision towards getting my hotel money refunded back
Magdalena, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Definitely on the much older side of a hotel, horrible people upstairs just stomping which made sleep miserable and even sleeping in late because of the stomping
Daniel, 1-night trip

I know that the hotel is old, but make an effort to get the room and the linens clean (cobwebs) and maintain the condition of the toilet and sink. The staff is friendly though.
