This was our favorite hotel in Japan! Great location, nice walk to Nishiki Market. It has a traditional and modern vibe to it. It was spacious, clean and staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel is beautifully designed, the staff are welcoming, and the location is perfect – quiet, walkable, and full of charm. While the rooms are on the smaller side (as expected in Kyoto), they’re extremely comfortable with excellent lighting and thoughtful layout. I always feel relaxed and at ease here. The public bath is a lovely bonus after a long day exploring. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful, stylish base in Kyoto.

It is a small room in North American standard but during our stay we have not felt it is small. Rather it has all the convience a thoughtful designer would put into a room. The onsite onsen helps a lot (so I did not use ensuite bath room that much for shower). The location was good and the old style facade for buildings along the street always gave us so much to look at. It is really lovely.
