Was just a stopover on a motorcycle road trip and the Swan was perfectly fine stop clean and all I needed with out of the way parking for the bike. Staff were nice and helpful, had an OK, average breakfast in the morning. I also ate here the evening of my stay and this was not great, perhaps between chefs 🤔

It was good for the price , but couldn’t have a shower as water kept losing power

Fine for what we required. The staff were friendly. The rooms and public areas could benefit from updating. The bath and shower in rooms 1 & 2 are very small . Low height for shower so not ideal for anyone over about 5'8" tall

I have stayed in this hotel a couple of times now. The staff are very friendly and supportive. It was really hot in my room so they supplied me with a fan for the duration. The food was amazing, well tasty as was the breakfast. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who requires good quality service

We arrived on a sunny Sunday afternoon, but there was plenty of space in the car park, which is free for hotel guests, you just need to provide your vehicle registration at check in. All the staff we met were friendly & helpful, with full directions given regarding the location of our room (all rooms are in an annexe beside the main building) ours was upstairs. The room was large, comfortable, and clean. We ate dinner in the pub, and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Next morning, cooked breakfast was served to our table, and was perfectly adequate before we continued to our next destination.

Pub quiz was very loud, couldn’t sleep, the room wasn’t clean and got charged multiple times for parking

I arrived at the Swan Thatcham at 7.30pm and I was informed on the arrival that my booking was cancelled 3 hour earlier and an email was sent. The reason of cancellation was a wasp net found in a room!!! I have not received any email and I had to find a hotel not to be left on the street for the night. Not a nice experience.

Sink plug jammed. Served wrong food . Not for us again

No hot or event warm water in the early mornings A first for us but things go wrong, and although disappointing and very inconvenient I can accept that this can happen. What I cannot accept is the radio silence. It’s now 36 hours since checking out and reporting this to the morning staff (who said they knew about the problem) and would tell the management. But NO acknowledgment AT ALL. No apology.. nothing. So I write this report to accompany our stay. I swerved the travelodge to give the local ‘up scale’ (their words!) establishment a chance but they let themselves down. Avoid.

long as you give your registration number plate at check in. The reception bit was around the side of the bar but I didn't see any signs! A bit of a wait as they were serving customers. When checking in, all information is given. The rooms are set in another building next to the pub. The room was a good size as was the bathroom. The bad bits!! The bed looked like it wasn't made properly as it was all crinkly like someone just laid on top of it with dirty clothes on, lots of black bits, hair and stains. The bathroom taps and sink didn't look clean at all! The tea/coffee tray was dirty. I remade the bed and flipped over the duvet and pillows! The bed was comfortable enough. Shower was hot but not overly powerful. Wifi was good Breakfast not included, unsure if you can add it on. Check out the bar door was closed so just put the key in the letter box. Evening meal was good plenty of choices and good value. Location next to the train station and a beautiful river. I'd stay again but would definitely try a different room and hopefully it would be better made up!!!

Worst service

2/10

The bath had 2" of water in it on arrival. The fire alarm light (green) is so bright you might as well be full lights on and sleep was impossible. The road and train noise is unbearable too. Either the barrier crossing for the train or the boy racers at the roundabout. Getting a table for food in a Wed might was almost impossible. All tables booked less well out of the way for the quiz night.

Rooms were small but clean and good power socket and desk arrangement. Bed was a bit hard and lumpy. There was no iron available, even from reception, and no shampoo or shower gel in bathroom. There was a liquid soap dispenser, but out of reach of shower. It’s those small details that let it down. Overall, good value for money though.

Not the best stay. On arrival into the car park we both were saying "oh no" ay the sight of the outer bedrooms, which didn't improve when we checked in. No warm friendly welcome and no proper explanation of how to find our room. We were left wandering, asked again and told to go straightforward. Faiked to mention it was through a fire exit door to the outside. Our hearts sank as we opened the access door to see a dingy flight of stairs with paint flaking off the walls. The room itself was basic and really dusty. The bedding and bathroom were both clean. Toilet seat was loose. Everytime either the access door or the opposite guest bedroom door opened our door moved too! Ended up sleeping with a chair propped up against it! Our prepaid breakfast was a poor do too. The price included items from the continental and a cooked breakfast. Nothing was on offer so we asked the waitress abd managed to get some cereal. Asked again for fruit juice. The English Breakfast was ok ....just! We were staying there to attend a family funeral at the very nearby crematorium. Had it not been for that fact we would have driven right on by!
