8/10 Very good

The stay was enjoyable, very polite and helpful staff, the room was spotless, the only downside was the bed was too small as we are use to a large bed at home, but that would be our only negative.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Felt the building was quite tired looking and the rooms basic yet clean. Bed was in that room was very soft, the shower was great super powerful and hot.

It was very good. We didn’t know quite what to expect , but as it happens it suited our needs very well. The staff were helpful and friendly and we hope to return on our next visit to this part of the world.

Good value compared to other hotels in atea

Great value helpful hard working staff, and a very hot and good Full English breakfast. The staff were very good , but I think if they had a hotel uniform, it would lift the hotel up a level.

Basic but value for money

Hotel is basic but clean. Room was nice and clean. Shower was on the hot side, even with the temperature turned to its lowest. Breakfast was cooked great. Overall I would say value for money.

It wasn’t worth the money at all. The hotel is extremely tired and dated. The shower fitting was broken but at least the room was clean and the staff were friendly.

The hosts, Andy and Ann are very friendly and approachable and ready to sort out any issues. I enjoyed the full English breakfast every morning which was cooked to order and a self service area for tea, coffee, toast etc. Since my last visit a couple of years ago the Wi-Fi has been much improved and the small TV has been replaced with a 40" smart TV. The grounds are always well kept. The only downside was using Expedia for the first time. They told me my room was booked but Saltburn House weren't sent my details. They could see that the room was booked but couldn't initially assign it to me, but after some minutes this was sorted out.

room was clean and water hot. room very small.no facilities ie wardrobe or shelves.one window didnt open and one wouldnt shut properly.tv on wall at side of bed so couldnt view properly and hairdryer under tv with mirror on opposite wall.would have made more sense to swap mirror and tv over.bathroom small with no hooks to hang anything.bar was like a working mens club.and access to lift via front door which was locked when bar empty so first night had to use side entrance at 20-50? and use stairs to access our room.no good for people who struggle to walk.
storage in bedroom
very little room around bed
tiny bathroom no hooks etc to hang anything
window taped up at top and wouldnt shut properly.heavy winds 2 nights howled like a banshee through gap and kept us awake.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL VIA HOTELS.COM!! the hotel - when we arrived - stated that they are NOT on this platform. Virtual Agent quoted a MOBILE number as the contact to the hotel and @GMAIL address for the email. clearly someone else set them up on this platform (most likely as a FRAUD!) I am terrified seeing this hotel still available on Hotels.com (and Expedia) after our complaint last week!

Staff were so welcoming! My room allocation was quickly sorted. Breakfast was great! Staff couldn't have done more and I really enjoyed it. I didn't use the bar, but it seemed busy. The bed's mattress was very firm. All linen was beautifully crisp and clean. Fluffy, quality white towels. Shower was easy to use and lovely and hot with no problems. Could have done with towel rail in the bathroom (in bedroom) and a bedside shelf/table (one at bed bottom). This is a huge, very old hotel which could do with a refurb. But is blatantly well-loved and was very busy! It's a stone's throw from the beating heart of the town. There isn't a hotel car park and parking wasn't too easy. I would return. Don't expect 'The Ritz', but know you'll have a very warm welcome with lovely folk .

2/10 Poor

Basic is just about the highest compliment I can pay for this place. Such a shame that such a beautiful building can be so delapidated. The single bed was tiny when you could easils have fitted a double in there and it wasn't even cheap at 70 quid !!! Clearly meant only for lorry drivers and contractors. If I'd booked this place for a holiday I would have been gutted but as it was for work and a bit of relaxation, I am merely devastated.
