The trip started badly when there was no fob in the lockbox, and the local manager didn't respond to my text or call when I couldn't get through the gate. I lucked out when the guy who inspected the rooms arrived and let me in (Oh, and he said, "The rooms had the occasional squatters in them, so be careful.")
The complex is old and run down, with rat traps on every floor. The room itself was mostly clean, with a dirty rug covering an uneven concrete floor.
Once I was situated, I attempted to find the WiFi using the instructions from the email I was sent, but I couldn't. I messaged the property, and it wasn't until the following morning that I was given the proper WiFi and password.
After 10:30 pm on my first night, I was awakened by a call from an unknown number, which I declined. The call was followed up by a text accusing me of stealing the gate fob and threatening to charge me $250! Keep in mind, I never even touched the fob and was let in by someone else.
The following day, I tried to clear up the issue and asked the manager to call me. Instead of receiving a call, I spent the next 12 hours texting back and forth with a third party who adamantly refused to call and insisted on only using text messages. The final message of the day was that the third party finally contacted the local manager, and she was aware that I didn't have the fob. The lack of communication suggests Barsala will soon fail as a company.
Oh, and the graffiti on the walls was not very tasteful.
