Booked hotel as restaurant amenity available. When arrived told no restaurant with delay in checking in. No apology made. Room needed updating and mattress uncomfortable

With an old building it comes with squeaky floor boards. Could hear footsteps from the room above me. Which seemed to go on throughout the night.

Appreciated cost of the public car park was covered by the hotel. And the guy who checked me in was friendly, but he didn’t ask my name or anything just handed me a key and front door card - I could have been anybody so would recommend formalising process. I just felt the quality of the access/room and overall accommodation experience and usability elements weren’t as good as they could be:
Building and bedroom interior was quite old and could do with a refurbishment to doors, bathroom and bed in particular. Door key was quite tricky to unlock and get key back out as kept getting stuck. Would be better to have keyless access to rooms. Single bed felt smaller than others I’ve slept in, which wasn’t comfortable to lie in as an adult. Lots of hotels use slightly larger singles to increase comfort so would recommend purchasing those or using a standard double even for single occupancy. I’m not particularly tall but my feet poked out off end of bed with a duvet that was badly fitted into the cover (excess material 2feet or so). Could have done with an extra pillow or different sizes offered so people can choose their optimal neck height. TV signal wasn’t great on lots of channels. Any slight movement in the room or lying in the bed and the display would distort - had to keep shifting position of tv to get picture/sound. Back external access door to the hotel wasn’t in operation which meant had to walk from car park round front of building- wasn’t ideal with luggage in the rain.

I’ve stayed here for a few weeks with work and had very pleasant stay. Staff are really friendly and welcoming. The rooms are large and the location is perfect with plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

A very basic and run-down hotel sorry. Felt like it was not really catering for hotel customers tbh - a very run down room.

wasn't sure if this building was abandoned or not when I arrived, soon realised it wasn't when I was rudely addressed by the hotel receptionist

Property is run down. Had one window pane missing covered by a sign that said "do not open window".
Carpet was stained.
Staff were ok. Location was ok.

A very tired hotel. Room had a broken window, peeling paint and bar was out of draft beer and closed early. Fortunately room was clean if dated. Needs a big makeover.

This is a great old place and is obviously tired in places but if you want a good nights sleep then don’t choose a hotel on the main square Lots of noise and light
No breakfast service dispute being on the booking ?? Only informed upon arrival

Having read the earlier reviews we were not sure what to expect but, its clear the new owners have spent alot if time and money improving the oremises. Room was clean and comfortable, staff were excellent nice bar and dining room although we did not dine so cannot offer an opinion there, all. In all a very plesent stay

I’ve stayed at this property multiple times and never had a major issue. However, on this occasion I spent 2 nights without any hot water and therefore no ability to wash. I mentioned to reception after the first night, expecting it to be resolved but it was not. I was told to email them after the second night to discuss compensation and whilst the beginning of the conversation was good it amounted to very little. I was promised “head office” would be in touch to resolve the situation, which didn’t happen. Rather than any compensation I was then offered a discount on my next nights stay, totalling a measly £11 discount, which felt like a further insult after not being able to wash for 3 days.
Steer clear at all costs!

There was no food available. Both decent beer taps were off and there was a pop left in the toilet
