Short trip to Notting Hill / London

Fantastic location and very friendly staff, just a two minute walk to Notting Hill Underground station. Surrounding area had lots of shops and cafes. The bathrooms might need an update but apart from that a very pleasant stay.

Great location for staying at Carnival time!

The great thing about this hotel is the receptionist Sarah! She is such a great asset to the place you can forgive them for the low pressure cold water that comes out at a trickle in the bathroom, the lack of a proper shower in the bathroom and the rather old but fairly clean room that has obviously seen better days. It was an incredibly small (single) hot room being right at the top of the building. Even though there was a fan which I had on all night with the window open it was still incredibly hot and really needs an air con unit. I was staying for Carnival and this was an ideal location being just a few minutes walk from the route that was used and a few minutes walk from the tube.

Nice Traditional British experience

Excellent stay if not for climate change bringing hot weather to an area not equipped with AC. Lots and lots of stairs so be ready to work out.

Don't stay here during the summer

It was extremely hot weather and because the room was in the roof it was unbearable. We made the decision to leave and stay elsewhere.

Amazing location, strange that you have a physical key and have to hand it in when you want to go out… bathroom needs updating.

Great comfy stay

The bed might be a single & im used to a queen, it was really comforyable, i slept so well. Couldnt hear anyone next door...every so often they would let their door slam closed otherwise really silent. I did not want to leave my room as was so comfortable. Very friendly staff. Didnt have any problems. Loved the AC working as reception and the fan in the room. The bathtub was great with possibility of bubbles. Nice location, very convenient and close to metro stop.

Room was dated but adequate. It’s the staff and location that make the Abbey a worthwhile consideration for a place to stay in London. Lots of shops in the area to peruse and many good dining options! The staff were extremely helpful whenever we needed their assistance!

Great location. Could be beautiful, but rundown and not taken care of. The cleaning services are wretched. Beds lumpy and old. Pig with lipstick.

10/10 Exceptional

This hotel was a smaller hotel and allowed great personal service. The staff knew our names and situations and we knew their front desk staff person name, Sara, who was delightful. There’s no fridge but they held a little food in their fridge. The bathroom was as big as my home bathroom and included a full bath tub.

Hotel is in a great location. 2 minutes walk from the tube. Very close to Portobello Road. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly. There is no lift. I had a broken ankle and a walking boot to the knee on. Our room was the very top floor. 65 steps! Not easy but the staff carried my bags up and down. I could not have coped without them.

Friendly and comfortable in Notting Hill

Very friendly and helpful welcome from the staff, which continued to make us feel very welcome throughout our stay. The room was clean and comfortable and an excellent location to enjoy beautiful Notting Hill or jump on the Tube to explore London.

Comfortable and well situated

Stayed at the Abbey for three nights with my teenage daughter; we were using the room as a base for shopping in the West End and a show at Hyde Park. The location is fabulous, with Nothing Hill gate tube station a short walk away and Hyde Park a few minutes away. The staff on arrival were extremely friendly, helpful and attentive, and this continued throughout our stay. The room was small but comfortable. The decor is dated, and the rooms would benefit from a lick of paint. The nature of the building means that walls can feel quite thin and our neighbour insisted on having the TV on full volume most nights until quite late but this isn't the fault if the hotel. Overall, as an affordable base to explore the heart of London for a few days, this is a very good choice.
Michael, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

We had a great stay at The Abbey. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The hotel itself was clean and perfect as a base. The dog welcome pack felt a little overpriced at £25 but then again it was nice to find somewhere that would accommodate dogs. Would happily stay again.
