It was okay but not amazing. The hotel definitely needs an exterior clean and a lick of paint. The inside felt a bit dated in the rooms. The lounge area was nice. The hotel felt a bit understaffed and service could be improved, but have to say the lad at the bar was great despite his young age. The food including breakfast was really nice, a good range of breakfast too. I’m not sure I’d stay again, potentially if I was in the area but wouldn’t rush back

The hotel staff are the best feature of this hotel they were all friendly and had a smile, the hotel itself is in need of some updating in the communal areas, but the room itself was clean, the bedding and bed was comfortable, breakfast I would not recommend not worth the money they are charging for it, little to no selection in continental and the cooked breakfast was generic and tasteless. Lovely location and the pool was great.

Incredible value for money, if you don’t mind it being a bit dated! Overall the stay was great, doubt you’ll find a better place for the money. if WiFi had worked (only the staff WiFi was available) and the changing rooms for the gym were a bit cleaner / had less bugs in them I’d give it a 5 stars!

Hotel is sadly outdated with tired decor. Not worth £100+ per night. Room was disappointing small, hot and stuffy. Room radiator was set on full (too hot), thermostat had been removed preventing it from being turned down. Room faced overgrown disused railway sidings and any side glance toward a Mountain View was obscured by trees. Food, however, was exceptionally good. Accommodation barely 1 star, Food & friendly staff 5 stars.

Worst experience ever

Before we arrived we had repeatedly contacted the hotel in order to have rooms with connecting doors but they never responded. Upon arrival we were assigned to rooms on two separate floors and told nothing could be done about that. They told us the hotel was fully booked but it clearly wasn’t. One room smelled like someone had smoked there. The other room was just as old and outdated. The curtain and other things were broken. There was no aircon so we had to sleep with open windows and listen to the traffic noise all night. The people working there were not very friendly and service minded. The breakfast horrible and the showers for the full so hot the kids couldn’t shower. Maybe it was great 30 years ago but since then seemingly absolutely nothing has been done to keep it up to date.

Needs TLC

This hotel needs some TLC. The location is good and it’s great that it has a pool + gym and sauna, but the hotel condition is shabby in places, it could do with a good deep clean and repainting. The exterior is a terrible shame especially and quite a shock when you arrive as it looks almost abandoned with peeling paint and dilapidated signage. We had no hot water for the three days there and the changing rooms in the health centre are an area in need of attention, so it wasn’t easy to feel comfortable and relaxed, especially after a hike. The saving grace for the hotel is the staff, they were all cheerful, chatty and polite, trying to deal with problems and complaints with patience.
