This hotel has many positives, perfect location, excellent service and delicious food with a good range of options offered at every meal. However, much of the hotel is very dated and desperately needs updating, particularly the bar and dining room. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Happy holiday

Hi my husband and me had a good week at Gran Hotel. We did all inclusive , enty of choice in food , loads of fresh fruit, wich pleased us. If your food was not hot enough for you a microwave was available. The rooms are ok. Bathroom a bit tired, but all in the room was ok. Lots of sun loungers , entertainment on an evening was ok. We enjoyed are holiday.

Great Location

Excellent location, right on the beach and a short walk to a good selection of bars and restaurants. Short walk to busses going either direction every 30 minutes. Buffet breakfast lunch and dinner has a huge selection of food. The hotel is showing its age in places but clean and perfectly ok to stay in.

Pleasant stay

Good location, friendly staff & good food. My only negative were the bars, of which there are only two. One by the pool open from 9.30am-8pm and the other in the hotel, open 8pm-1.30am. This meant that we could only get a drink at the pool during the day in 30C+ heat, with very little shade if you were lucky to find a seat. The drinks were obviously served in small plastic cups & not worth the walk to take it back to the hotel to drink. Even though we were all inclusive, we ended up buying a bottle of wine to drink on our balcony. Although there is parking at the hotel, when we arrived there were no spaces available and had to find off-street parking.

Not good enough

The hotel location is great and members, however, our first night was a nightmare, very noisy, and also in the morning, we coudnt stay at the swiming pool, as a group of drunkers were chouting and thete was not relax time.

Hotel in a good position for town and walk on the boardwalk.Great view. Interior of room could be improved towels and bed sheets were poor quality

Great location

Nice hotel in great location. Tea in room - but don’t put coffee/milk! Room could be cleaner - that said - they did clean daily (might I suggest less daily cleaning will give cleaner bit more time to attention to detail) Overall a nice hotel
Alan, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

Yes the property is old and prepare yourself for a time warp to 70’s Spanish Hotel when you go down the dark wood corridor. However, the rooms where a good modern standard, clean and housekeeping came every day. There was a fridge and kettle. The view was beautiful. There was an “arroyo” down one side of hotel but it didn’t smell at the beach end. I had room only so did not sample the food but most people were All Inclusive. The pool was ridiculously small and very very shallow. Not much use for swimming and was really disappointing for a hotel of this size. However the location right on the beach made up for this. All in all I would be quite happy to stay here again as a base.
Rachel, 6-night trip

6/10 Good

Excellent location, rooms were spotless but tired looking. Dinner was very often served cold . Can be noisy late at night
David, 7-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Clearly the largest hotel in the vicinity. I would describe the hotel as very fit for purpose. The room was spacious with a delightful balcony which allowed the sound of the rolling waves to be heard. The dining room was understandably large but it meant that there was always a place to sit. A great variety of food was available and if you like your pudding then this is the go to place! The staf, whilst busy, were all friendly and attentive.
George, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Staff excellent, location great. Kettle in room but not coffee or milk supplied. Asked for coffee and the local supermarket was the answer. Requires work for the 4 star advertising, tired in places. Air conditioning was not available at this time although it was 16-20 degrees overnight. Located near to centre by beach. Plenty of on site and off site parking, Vehicle not required for location. Dining area in basement location, dark and hot. Limited breakfast selection. Adequate for short stay. Bathroom serviced and clean.

Okay, but not even close to a 4 star

We stayed here in late October 2024. Positives. Quite cheap. Great staff. Fabulous location on the beach with great views Basic but clean rooms. Free soap in the bathroom Okay, but not great, food. The pool is fine. Cheep drinks at certain times of day. Negatives. Not even close to a 4 star hotel. More like a 2 star. Rooms are cold, poorly insulated, and the air con/heating barely works. The free soap is horrible and sticky, and there's no shampoo or similar. Some rooms are smoking rooms and, as the insulation is terrible, it makes the non-smoking rooms stink, too. Very clinical and dated, almost like sleeping in a sports centre.
Richard, 4-night trip

I stayed in the Gran in November no Irish tv stations on and English stations just work intermittently. This stay tv the same useless. We were asked for ten euro per day to park a car and park practically empty. Two euro per day for safe key. Use of safe in any hotel is free. The bath and hand towels were an absolute disgrace. The towels had holes in them and the sides all frayed with material strings hanging from them. When I complained they apologised and next day’s towels were exactly the same. I informed them that we woul never stay again.
Aidan, 6-night trip

8/10 Very good

Very attentive, friendly and polite staff. There was a wide choice of food in the very clean dining room but the lighting made it feel like a canteen. Food/plates could have been hotter though a microwave oven was available. Fruit juice was available and the hot drinks machine offered a selection of coffees, chocolate, milk and water to make tea at breakfast. At dinner time drinks could be purchased from the bar but tap water was available in jugs when requested. The bar/entertainment area was not very welcoming though a wide selection of drinks was available. Our twin room on the 5th floor was cleaned daily. The beds were very comfortable and the balcony offered great views of the pool, beach bar, the beach and the Med Sea. The mirror wardrobes were spacious and there was plenty of storage in drawers and a fridge. Car parking was gated but was an extra €70 for the week. It was an easy and very pleasant walk of about 10 minutes along the beach boardwalk into Cala Mijas with its variety of shops and restaurants. It was a convenient location for the many golf courses in the area and the local park(virtually next door) offered petanc courts, an outdoor gym and a children’s play area. All in all it was a great week’s stay and we would definitely book the Vik Gran again.

Glimrende,
