I travel all over the country for work and I have to say this is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in.Not only for the history and the premium look of the hotel but the service, the staff, breakfast, room quality, bathroom shower where all with spot on. Not cheap but superb value.

This hotel is not cheap, but it is excellent value for money. The level of comfort, service and the superb food make it an absolute delight to stay. It will rival many "luxury" London hotels.

Bar and Restaurant staff helpful and polite. Food (breakfast) was very good. Checkin was below the standard expected, as was the attitude of the duty manager when we made a complaint. We won’t be staying at the hotel again for this reason.

Excellent in every way. Nice rooms, spacious, made up of three cells. Wonderful bathroom with bath and separate shower. Amazing breakfast that was included. Plenty of character. Free parking. My girlfriend says room slightly dusty but I didn’t notice. A coffee machine would have been nice (rather than instant coffee). Highly recommended.

Absolutely loved this hotel! It was such a pleasant surprise, despite already having high expectations. We were in a dog friendly room on the ground floor and it was incredible. The history of the building is evident and we really enjoyed exploring the exterior and the areas near the restaurant. The staff were all very very helpful and pleasant. Stunning hotel & overall very pleased with our stay. Breakfast was good & staff were willing to adjust the menu to needs. We booked the history tour for £30 for two, which was supposed to last an hour but we were told the wrong place to meet & missed the beginning & the tour only lasted 30 minutes..had we have known this we would not have booked it..reception staff didn’t seem to know a lot about the tour arrangements…just a slight niggle but still enjoyed our stay!
