I love historical hotels and the San Carlos didn't disappoint! It was clean and classy, but still had a great, historical feel.

It’s an amazing old historic hotel. I would never stay anywhere else in downtown Phoenix. I love the hotel and have used it three times. The staff is friendly and nice. The location is great. The bars and restaurants within 5 blocks are plentiful. But the rooms are small and don’t have modern furnishings so if a guest needs a fancier place then this probably isn’t their spot.

This is a great hotel that is close to everything. The only thing that would have been better is if they provided their own parking.

We had a standard room on a low rate, Phoenix temps in the low 100s. I found the hotel to be friendly and clean. It does show of age and some areas due for remodeling, however, the charm of the historic hotel is there. Limited conversations with staff were attentive and showed care for us as guests. The pool was drained and closed with other basic maintance well kept. The room temp was cool and with the use of the ceiling fan, the room tempature was comfortable in the Phoenix heat, this is meantioned due to other reviews read about the hotel and tempature controls. The lobby was humid and warm in the evening. It's an A+ 3-Star hotel. I was pleased with the stay and would stay there again.

Stayed for 3 nights. It's an historic hotel so everything is as old as my gramma's china. But that is the appeal. I will say the bed was spectacularly comfortable.
I kept an eye out for the ghost lady in white but did not see her.
