There was a bit of mould on the grouting in the bathroom and some paint touch-up is required on the heating pipe in the bedroom area. The sash window and frame could do with some sprucing-up and aircon in the room is required. I understand that it is a period building, but I like modern conveniences too.

There was no air conditioning in the property and the room was stifling, had to keep window wide open all night but even with this and a small fan the heat was unbearable! Rooms are dated, traditional style in keeping with the building but could do with a make over feel old, TV's and furniture would benefit from an overhaul! Also found toenails on carpet behind the bin - reported this to reception!

When I say the room was hot, I mean it was boiling. No air conditioning, only a useless tiny & noisy fan provided. The bed was also ripped around the base, the shower was dirty and the chair in the room clearly needed a wipe... Told reception about the very hot rooms, they were not particularly interested (didn’t even want to know which room). Also, had to pay a £75 extra deposit. Had no idea that was coming. If it was for breakages, no one checked the room before we left. What was the point? Didn’t get a wink of sleep, no one (staff wise) interested and it’s not a cheap place to stay. Ironically, I actually stayed in the hotel on my wedding night (some years ago), how far the standards have dropped. Don’t be fooled by its appearance, save your money and go somewhere else. It’ll be cheaper and will probably include breakfast.
