From the minute, I arrived, the staff were very engaged, helpful and supportive. The taxi driver would not take a credit card for payment, which has never happened to me in Germany and the concierge didn’t miss a beat and just went out and paid for it so I could get settled into my room. I would definitely recommend this hotel for the people, the location in the overall layout of the hotel.

Breakfast was amazing

Firstly, the location was perfect for us. We landed at Hamburg and one direct train took us to within 2 minute walk to the front door. It is close to the alt stadt and harbour area, which we frequented, but it is actually quite central to a lot of stuff. The hotel was very nice. Check in was a breeze and the room was a good size with everything that we needed. The only negative, it was quite a warm room, but hindsight, i think there was some temperature control we could have played around with! But the best part about the stay was the breakfast buffet in the morning. There was so much choice, catering for every food choice. And if you like a bit of fizz to start your morning, that was also an option. It is worth paying for the breakfast. It was wortb every penny!! If going back, we would stay here again.

Not up to what can be expected.

Nice hotel, but not up to Steigenberger standards. We booked 10 weeks in advance for New Year’s Eve, upon arrival, and signing of check in documents they let us know they had downgraded our room. They said a minor partial refund was applied as standard for in inconvience. We were not told in advance, and the hotel didn’t seem interested in up for their mistake, compared to they market them self as an upper scale hotel, no free drink or “sorry, breakfast is on us. Upon check out as we voiced our disappointment, they were very understanding and didn’t understand why we were not offered more, and they comped 2 drinks, which made us think they check in receptionist just had a bad day. However 2 weeks later we had not received out refund from them, and we had to get help from Hotels.com to get it, since they had not done so themself. All in all, compared to the many great hotels in Hamburg, we won’t be staying there again.

Your IT system is terrible. Your booking system on your website did not work when I booked, so I had to use Expedia instead. You offer hi speed wifi to H Rewards members, but the registration didn't work. Your staff admitted that it doesn't work. So I had to use slow wifi speed like a non-member. Your electronic key cards failed to operate the lift. Your staff said this is happening to most guests. So every time that we wanted to go up to our room, we had to get help from staff, who were not immediately available. I am not impressed. Your Berlin hotel Am Kanzleramt was much better. Your central Hamburg hotel is poorly managed and the IT people should be fired.
