It is a nice hotel in a great location. As typical to European rooms, they were small but adequate. The beds were comfortable. Bathrooms were nice food, breakfast buffet was excellent.

Great location, comfortable room and great breakfast! We were 8 to 12 minutes walk from the Fish Market, the Bryggen, the funicular, the Ferry Terminal and the airport tram. It was fun to be able to spot our mustard colored hotel from the top of the funicular. Breakfast was wonderful, with eggs, fresh fruit salad, green salad and veggies, a variety of breads as well as cheeses and meats and more. Our room was simple and clean. Would definitely stay again.

OLD AND NOISY

Outdated room, no charge points, no visible power points (crawl under bed), inattentive none engaged staff. Our room was next to an external street light and the block out curtains did not cover the span of the windows. Worst of all during our stay the hotel booked a school group and they were running around the hallways until midnight. Because it’s an old building you could hear every noise.

Good location for ferries or small cruise ships

This hotel was fine, nothing stands out too much either way. The line to check in was lengthy and it took quite awhile to have them call for help. Also, they did not tell people that they needed to scan their room keys to use the elevator and many people were confused why it would not work. There was a small sign in the elevator but many guests were not Norwegian or did not speak English well and did not understand the sign. I, myself, had to explain to 4 guests how to get to their floors.

This is a great hotel from the moment you arrive. The staff are all friendly and very helpful with any questions you might have. Our room had a separate sitting room with a couch and chairs. There was a TV in both rooms. But the highlight has to be the breakfast buffet. Everything you can imagine, from 4 kinds of eggs, bacon, sausages, oatmeal, cereals, cheeses, an assortment of fresh bread, lox ... And much more. I have never seen a breakfast buffet like this in any hotel.

Beautiful Bergen shame about the hotel

Checked in to room but opened door to discover it had not been cleaned after previous guests left. Moved to another room which was not satisfactory so eventually back in original room. No AC. Reasonably comfortable but lots of traffic noise. Breakfast ok. Nothing special other than location. Very tired hotel. Staff were all nice and handled room problems well. Wouldn’t come back and disappointed after staying at other Scandic hotels which were much better.

Why do you run a hotel like this?

I’m sorry but a lot of things need to change at this hotel. To begin with, I tried to call them more than 5 times before my arrival. Nobody picked up the phone. At my checkin, I mentioned that and they were very happy to tell me that they were busy. Wow! The room was not clean. I found one bitten cookie. They didn’t make room and the reception didn’t mention to us. Just one small paper in the room about it. Basically my feeling was terrible.

Easy to find as it’s a 10min walk from the tram straight from the airport. Welcoming staff. We had a recently upgraded room but the temperature control is non-existent. We were there during the festival so it was wedged but the restaurant more or less managed. It would be good if Scandic rated the quality of each hotel as we’d come from the Holberg in Oslo and it was not in the same league. Many of the less than positive reviews are worth reading.
