Lovely clean hotel and staff so helpful
1-night trip

Very friendly owners who just happen to be self taught cooks that served us the best food weve eaten in years.

Our contactors stayed here and they said it was a lovely stay.

A real find, we can't believe the great value for money offered here. The room was big, well laid out and equipped with a decent bathroom and even a provate area to sit outside. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious and the staff all friendly and helpful. Excellent!

One night stay. Accommodation very comfortable and staff very friendly. I booked a table for dinner for six for a family meal. The food was excellent but the only downside was the time we had to wait (about an hour). This could have been due to them having another large party in for dinner. The breakfast in the morning was excellent. Overall an enjoyable stay.

We stayed for two nights and hadn't realised the accommodation next to the pub had only recently reopened. There were a few very minor things which needed attention, but were fixed promptly by the staff. The room benefitted from a "two person" bath, which was great for soaking our travel pains away with a glass of wine. From there, we visited the excellent Beamish Museum, a marvellous working museum which needs at least two days to see. Meals were really good with very generously priced breakfasts and attentive service.

We booked into the mooring hotel for a couple of days. The place was perfect as we were going to beamish museum . From the moment we booked in the owners and staff were so friendly they couldn’t do enough for you . The accommodation was perfect exactly what we wanted. We had our own outdoor space .We went to the restaurant for evening meal and the food was delicious and large portions as well.Breakfast was great as well cold and hot food cooked when ordered. The owners were lovely were never to busy for a chat . We will definitely be back and bringing my elderly parents along with us to. Thank you very much for a very enjoyable stay from Denise and Stewart Anderson from methven in Perthshire

Very enjoyable stay, very comfortable rooms found shower over corner bath a bit of a challenge to stand under comfortably. Staff very friendly, meals exceptional as well as a hearty breakfast

We had a pleasant stay and the staff were very friendly. Our only issue was we found it cold although the heating was on in the room. We would come back and definitely recommend this little hotel.

Although out of season, a quiet period for the Moorings, the accomodation and staff made us welcome

very pleasant friendly people, room clean tidy, mattress on the soft side . A chair to sit in would be a handy addition. Good supply of tea/coffee. Strange locking set up on the bathroom door amused us.Would have been nice to have sampled the Breakfast but 08:00 was to late for us and probably most workers.Overall a pleasant friendly stay at a good price.

Very clean and large comfortable bedroom and bathroom designed for wheelchairs access. A few things the handyman needs to address such as shower screen has become unattached at one end, the small curtain rail is loose so pulls through when you close curtains. Very good food which we had on all 3 nights. Outside really needs tidying and lets the accommodation and bar/bistro down. Lawn needs mowing and planters removed or replanted, paths and steps need weeding and sweeping.

We stayed while visiting the Beamish museum. The rooms are similar in quality to those in chain hotels but what makes it special is that it is family owned and run and their attention to their guests is outstanding. I cannot speak too highly of Lesley with whom we had most contact during our stay. The food in their restaurant is of decent quality and generous to a fault, a similar comment applying to their breakfasts. If you want somewhere welcoming and reasonably priced while visiting Beamish look to further.

We stayed one night. Excellent value for money. Rooms clean and tidy and very quiet when we stayed. Just one niggle was when checking in the lady mentioned it was an extra £5 each for a cooked breakfast, however this wasn’t stated on booking. I did mention and showed the confirmation email. She checked with another staff member and said it was fine and was included in the price. The cooked breakfast in the morning was excellent and couldn’t do enough for us. The lady serving the breakfast was very welcoming and friendly. Thank you.

Clean bedroom with comfortable bed & excellent bathroom. Food in restaurant was superb and very reasonably priced. Staff were 5star - attentive, professional, very friendly and helpful.
2-night trip

8/10

A rather strange experience - my booking included breakfast, but on arrival I was told this only included cereal and I was asked to pay an extra £5 to receive a better breakfast! However, the following morning, lovely, friendly and helpful Lesley provided a full breakfast without extra payment. Also, the central heating boiler was not switched on and so there was no hot water. The fact that I had specifically found and booked a room with a bath/shower combination turned out to be pointless, as I was unable to have either. Despite all this, the room was large and both it and the bathroom were spotlessly clean. It would have been nice to have blackout blinds or curtains as the room proved to be very light during the night, which meant I did not sleep well. Although I did not need it, the lift was out of action. I also found out that there were no staff in the property overnight. A somewhat disappointing stay.
