Actopan (Waterfalls and river for swimming), Cempoala (Pyramids), and Viila Rica (Hiling and beach) are a must. Walking distance to the city square that is lively on weekend...

"Our stay at this hostel was good, the staff was super friendly and accommodating. We stayed in a 1 bunk bedroom and the area was clean (including the bathroom). The staff even took care of our luggage for a couple of hours while we came back from a trip.
Our only complaints are that the shower barely had any pressure, one of the lockers didn't close, and that the window was open when we arrived, so the room had mosquitoes inside.
