"The hotel is in a really good location, just next to Bryggen and within steps of other tourist attractions - Bryggen Museum, St Mary's Church, Bergen Fortress. The furthest attraction away is still only a 20 min walk, at most. I had a view of the water from my room (505) too, which was really lovely.
The room (I was in a standard double) is quite small, but was absolutely perfect for me on my own for a week. Perhaps the wardrobe space would feel too small for more than one person for that length of time. The room has an iron with ironing board, TV, hairdryer, kettle and mini fridge. The bathroom has a shower, underfloor heating and a heated towel rail.
There is a lot of seating downstairs inc a library and a cool nook by the old entrance/stairs. Go up the tower!
Breakfast in the morning had lots of options for hot food, as well as the expected Scandinavian meats and cheeses. Lots of fruit, bread, yoghurts and cereals too. At 3pm there is a snack available for free too. While I was there this was cake, pancakes or sandwiches. Then in the evening there is a meal provided for free too. This consists of a soup and a main of some sort (for example root vegetable soup with focaccia and chicken, potatoes and vegetables) as well as a wide selection of salads - standard leafy as well as pastas, quinoa etc. You can definitely get by staying here without buying much food outside at all, which is really welcome in expensive Norway.
The staff at the hotel are really kind and helpful."
"I only had 24 hours in Bergen as a stop on my trip, so valued proximity to the things I wanted to see. This hotel was exactly what I needed! It was a short walk from the market, fløibanen, shopping, and general sites in Bergen I wanted to explore. I was able to take a bus to/from the airport, but otherwise could walk to anything else I was interested in from the hotel. I was a little nervous about leaving my luggage in the closet since staff gave an access card for guests to manage it themselves, but I quickly learned there's a different level of trust in the Nordic countries that I wasn't used to. The room was clean, had a fan (great bonus in summer!), was quiet, and had anything I needed. The design was fun, but the decor did give me a bit of a visual headache (which I am prone to). That was the only downside, though. The breakfast was lovely and had a great variety as a send off in the morning. I appreciated my stay here and the convenience of its location for sure!"
"I was slightly apprehensive about staying at a self-service hotel but I needn't have been - the text arrived with my key code and it all worked out very well. The room was lovely - bigger than I expected and with a very nice shower. It was quiet despite being in the centre of town and on top of a shopping centre, and very comfortable. The only additional thing that would have been useful would be somewhere to store luggage after you check out (I don't think there was anywhere!), but it's not far from the station where you can do that. Overall it was a very pleasant stay and I would come back!"
"I took a taxi from the airport, which I thought was a sanctioned taxi service.. I asked before I got in if they accept credit cards which 95% of the companies in Bergen do but when the driver got to the hotel, I gave him my credit card and it was declined.. I gave him another credit card and it was declined.. I gave him a third credit card and it was declined so he asked for cash… I looked up to see what the charges should be based on Uber and it was $50. He told me the charges were $90 and he needed cash.. I said let’s go into the hotel and see what we can figure out… this man took my pack with credit cards, passport and cash.. when I refuse to pay him this way.. it turned into a brawl because I grabbed my backpack from this man as he’s trying to exit the Hotel and I had to get them to call the police..Sage witnessed this at the front desk and spoke to the police . The police offered to file a report against this man who is an immigrant from Eritrea/Ethiopia… I did not want to press charges because it was just a waste of time, but please do not take an unofficial sanction Taxi service, which is Bergen Taxi… they also have Uber… do not get it in any taxi at this airport unless you know where they come from!!"
"About a 5-10 min walk from the airport, lovely clean hotel, very welcoming. Nice size room with all the things you expect to find kettle, nice range of teas/coffee, fridge, iron and board. Shower and bath(bonus) quite nice products too. Couldn’t get the air conditioning to work but were soo tired (arrived at 1am) didn’t want to complain. So very stuffy hot night. Breakfast was super and fabulous range of hot and cold foods. "
"The room conditions were excellent. With plenty of nice, kind, and smiley customer services, we felt like we were at home.
Especially I really appreciate Jan and Kereme for their excellent, prompt help with our needs. Wonderful tasty buffet-style breakfast added great joy to our vacation..!! Thx much."
"Great location. It's 1 min walk from the side exit of Bergen railway station. And it's walkable to go to fish market and all main tourist sites. Great breakfast too with lots of variety"
"We loved our short stay at Comfort Hotel Bergen and were pleasantly surprised with a little engagement hamper. The staff were very nice and gave lots of recommendations- thank you!"
