"Oberstdorf is a beautiful hiking paradise with plenty of Hotels. Hence there is no need to stay in the sub-par Fuggerhof where you are put into a basement room while the unfriendly front desk staff tries to up-sell you into an above ground room - as if that were a special feature. Just to be clear - there was no mention of below ground rooms during booking and the basement room wasn't a walkout basement but did have a small window at the top of the wall, eye-level with the grass roots of the ill maintained backyard. We prefer to stay in an honest hotel with honest business practices.

To be honest, the spa facilities and the hotel itself are not bad at all however we have had a few issues over recent stays. Namely a billing issue between the hotel and Expedia itself which took an entire afternoon of our visit to resolve.
I would recommend that the newer side of the hotel is the nicer one for rooms.
The food is nice, the bar area is lovely. Half board is usually on offer for a stay, which includes a multi-course evening meal.
All in all, it’s a reliably good hotel."

It is slow real slow first time with different hotel made reservation at 1400 dident get checkin codes until 2340. Lucky this time another renter showed us ho to get in. "We chose to stay, having done so about 6 years ago, and as before this was a wonderful hotel in every way. The staff are really friendly and helpful, the rooms are large with comfy beds (we had a Mountain View room), and the breakfast is fantastic. We ate in the restaurant on one evening, which was really nice too. We used the hot tub and sauna every day, but being brits we aren’t so sure about the “nakedness” of this facility! Not for us…. Anyway, great hotel in a perfect location, and enough parking available once you suss out the way by car to the hotel in the pedestrian zone. Basically, highly recommended and we hope to be back sooner than the next 6 years. Thanks to all staff in the hotel. We even had a pack up breakfast for the final day as we had to leave for Munich airport before breakfast started"
