Sabor Tico... delicious, authentic. Souvenir shop in town has a bird viewing area...saw toucans, blue jays, parrots... We booked Zipline and Skybridge with Treetopia. Felt very safe and had a blast. El Tigre hike was challenging but our favorite.

The town is lovely and there are lots of great outdoor activities, special climate and geography. People are very friendly. If you are driving to Monteverde, be prepared for many gravel roads where having an SUV 4x4 would be best.

The best zip lining experience in the area was right on sight, we went to the Monteverde cloud Forest reserve but didn't see anything, maybe we should have booked a guide

Gorgeous part of Costa Rica with amazing hiking, zip lining, and beautiful wildlife. Loved the hotel and the setting. Glad we stayed here!
"We had an amazing time at Casa Del Rio. The staff were very friendly at check-in and during our stay. We enjoyed the different pools and the fun waterslide. The villa we stayed in was very comfortable and spacious and we really enjoyed having a grill on the deck and being able to self-cater some nights. We enjoyed the breakfast - there was a good selection on the menu and especially Diego was a fantastic waiter who looked after us and the kids really well. The location is really good - just a few minutes from the town but in a nice quiet location and close to the La Fortuna river and waterfall."
"Get the included breakfast. Quality restaurant on site. The property was not crowded, often times we were the only people at the pool or the restaurant. The views are amazing. Rooms are comfortable. "
"Everything was wonderful. The property was beautiful. The staff was outstanding. They had food for every palate. The views were breathtaking. The bed was comfortable. The hot springs were perfect."
"The Hotel Amor Arenal is the best hotel we have ever stayed at. The private casita is a little sanctuary nestled in the jungle, allowing you to experience the jungle from the safety and luxurious comfort of its well-crafted rooms. You will feel like a cast member in The White Lotus. The best parts:
1. The view of the Arenal volcano is stunning, but clouds often hide it. That's ok because there is plenty to look at with complex patterns of tropical plants crossing a valley and ridges.
2. Wake to the sound of parrots and howler monkeys
3. Sip morning coffee from your own personal deck and hot tub.
3. Take a dip in your choice of three beautiful pools - one with a swim-up bar that is heated and a cool pool with a waterfall.
4. Animal sightings - from snakes, to green-eyed tree frogs, slots, parrots, monkeys.
5. The grounds are meticulously cared for - secluded and safe with stone pathways, an open air restaurant, meditation decks and two hiking trails on property that are the right amount of challenge.
6. Extremely accommodating service and staff.
You really don't have to (or will want to) leave the property. They have everything you need from a coffee house and gym on premise to a spa and trails.
My only recommendation for the hotel is better weather stripping beneath the doors so that the jungle stays out. We had a couple of gecko and bug visitors that managed their way in. Who could blame them, though!"
"I recently stayed at Brisas and can't say enough good things about this place! From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and right at home. The view of nature on the property
was unbelievable! I stayed in the newest building C7, and it was absolutely beautiful– the highlight being the new front and rear patio with a nice hammock where I spent peaceful moments soaking in the surrounding nature and view of the Volcano. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee or relax in the evening while listening to the sounds of the jungle.
The owner is one of the warmest and most genuine people I’ve ever met while traveling. He personally greeted us, shared local tips, and made sure we had everything we needed – he truly treats you like family.
The front desk staff were equally fantastic – always helpful, kind and attentive. Whether we needed tour recommendations or had questions about the area, they were ready with a smile and great advice.
And let’s talk about the breakfast – it was delicious, freshly prepared, and served in a lovely open-air area where you can watch colorful birds nearby while you eat. A perfect way to start each day in paradise.
If you're visiting La Fortuna, Brisas is your best option. It combines comfort, hospitality, and the beauty of Costa Rica in the best possible way. I immediately extended my stay by 3 days as soon as I saw my room!
Special shout out to the property pups, Roxie, Molly, Sammy and Cookie for being great company during our stay. -Golfiteño"
"Our stay at Bauma was fantastic! The staff were very helpful, parking lot was paved, jacuzzi was a good size & the bathroom plus shower were very spacious. It is closer to La Fortuna waterfall and a short drive into the downtown area. There is a small market down the street as well. We would definitely return back to stay here! "
"From the time we got there, we felt rifht at home & safe. I was greeted at the front desk, the gentleman already knew my name. We had welcome drinks delivered to us seconds later. The place was amazingly clean. The hot springs are beautiful, we had them to ourselves most of the time. Highly recommend!"
"This place is magical. The people are welcoming and kind. Service is great and the view of our room was astonish. What a great family time we had. Thank you for making my husband birthday so special. Hopefully we will go back in the future. "
"Wonderful Stay with Outstanding Service, 2nd visit this year.
Our stay was nice, quiet, and peaceful. The customer service—especially from Daniel and the rest of the staff—was excellent. I truly appreciated their attentiveness and responsiveness.
I had a small incident where I accidentally left my sweater behind as we were checking out. To my surprise and appreciation, the staff reached out to let me know and held it for me until I could retrieve it. That level of care really stood out.
The rooms were clean, the daily breakfast was great, and the cooks did a fantastic job. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. We definitely look forward to staying here again in the future.
If you’re looking for something simple, quiet, and clean—with genuinely great customer service—I highly recommend this place."
"Lots of wildlife and trails on property. Close enough to everything but far enough that it’s quiet. Staff super friendly and having food available with their restaurant was a big plus. I’d stay here again if ever back in La Fortuna. "
"My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and we were not disappointed one bit. All of the staff here is nice, welcoming, and informative. The hotel itself is so clean and open, not to mention how beautiful, peaceful, and the environment around it is. "
"A beautiful mountain setting surrounded by nature and hordes of hummingbirds. We saw a trop of 15-20 Coati on the ride in one evening and dozens of hummingbirds at breakfast every morning. The staff is gracious and friendly and always willing ti held with a reservation for a local excursion to the Coffee/Chocolate Plantations or the Adventure parks in the area. our visit was truly outstanding!"
"Perfect place in Monteverde.
Rooms are large, beds are comfortable and clean, parking is right in front and it’s a 3 minute walk to most restaurants and stores.
Staff were very friendly and easy going.
Very minor thing but you can sometimes hear road noise - but all solved with some ear plugs! "
"Amazing stay from start to finish, upon check in Brain at the front desk went above and beyond to show us to our room and around the property. The hot springs were amazing after a long day of activities in town. We were able to see sloths and monkeys while at the property which was amazing. I would highly recommend staying here.
"
"We really enjoyed our stay at Sibu. It is a short (but steep) walk into Santa Elena. The hotel itself is very nice and modern and offers a great made-to-order breakfast. Service is also excellent "
