"Good location in the centre of Stromness, OK for a short stopover, no meals on site but some availability at the partner Ferry Inn just along the road. Fairly limited eating places in the area."

"Faded glory. Very over-priced. Shower had not been cleaned properly since previous guest. Housekeeping door (with COSSH label re hazardous substances within) was lwft unlocked / open for half my stay. No lift so stairs were a chore. No-smokiny policy not enforced properly (guests were opening the fire door outside my room to smoke, the fumes of which were then present in my room."

"The hotel car park has a skip full to overflowing, and this, as well as disused furniture and scrap metal reduced the hotel parking, on an island where parking spaces are hard to find.
We were not given the code to the fire door but were lucky enough to meet another couple of guests who did and let us in.
The manageress was aloof and abrupt but the 2 girls working in the restaurant rescued the hotel from getting a lower grading.
The hotel also let itself down with the amount of litter at the...

"The room and location were great and the breakfast was absolutely Devine! The only “negative “ comment is that the shower floor was slippery with no mat or strips on the shower floor to keep you from potentially slipping. Loved everything about this place in terms of our needs as was right across the street from the ferry terminal. No elevators to second floor so be forewarned if you are elderly this might be a negative, but for these two older ladies, we loved the staff and the place."

"I have toured around Scotland and this accommodation is by far the best I've stayed in. Very well appointed room , spotlessly clean and the host go way over and above .
I can't recommend this place highly enough."

"It was a pleasure to stay with Shona this week. Very friendly and prompt communication. Upon arrival was a friendly welcome and tour of the property which was modernly styled, very spacious, and immaculate. The large kitchen has no shortage of storage, fridge/freezer space, very large oven, hobs, pans, crockery, utensils etc. and spacious dining area for 8, couldn't ask for more!!! "Youth hostel with (some) rooms converted to double rooms. Rooms slightly basic, but comfortable. The place is somewhat aged but appears well kept.
Spacious communal kitchen and dining room."

"We had an incredible 2 night stay here. Fyona and Colin went above and beyond to make us feel at home and we would 100% stay there again! Breakfast was delicious, the room was cozy but just what we needed and the neighbourhood was quiet. It's about a 20 minute walk to the shops in Kirkwall which was so perfect. Can't recommend enough!"

"Every thing was basically good, staff are nice, hotel is clean a new, the only problem was the noise from the bar and event room kept us up both nights until gone midnight. Not ideal for c£200 a night "

"We got in just on darkness after a 7pm departure from Scrabster. The room was clean and compact but had everything we needed. The mattress on the bed was a little springy but all in all, comfortable. I'd stay here again."

"If you are looking for a B & B on the north coast of Scotland this is it! We don't give out 5 star reviews lightly, and this accommodation definitely deserves it. And the food was fabulous - they could have opened a restaurant instead of a B & B. Don't go out to dinner if you are staying here, order from their menu. Kacey & Stephen are wonderful hosts and could not have been more attentive."

Add to that an ideal location which is right next to the ferry port (first house on the left when leaving the ferry terminal) and just opposite the post office/local store right at the heart of the village. There is also plenty of parking outside / nearby and is nice and easy to get to all of the mainland both by car and bus (stop is just outside). Would not hesitate to stay here again. Thanks Shona."
"We just stayed one night before the ferry to Orkney. The room was comfortable and really clean. Staff were friendly and helpful so top marks to the team.
Great breakfast included in our rate was a bonus. I'd definitely stay here again. "
"This place is a dream! It has a large and beautiful library that guests are welcome to use. The breakfast is delicious and provides variety of your choice. The accommodations are not only beautiful, but also very spacious. There are 2 windows in the bedroom that we could open to let in a cool breeze. The bathroom is incredible. The history of the home is truly amazing as well. The host, John, was very helpful. I can't recommend this enough. We didn't want to leave. "
"A quaint former back house which exudes some old world charms with modern conveniences. On site parking. Friendly staff and excellent custom cooked breakfast. Dining options within walking distance. Convenient to the sights of North-East Scotland."

"We had a wonderful time at Burnside during our road trip through Scotland. Our suite was comfortable and provided all we needed. We loved walking around the tranquil setting and making friends with the local sheep. Our host was friendly, attentive, and the food wonderful. She lent us binoculars and guided us to the best places to see puffins. We’re happy we had the opportunity to stay there."
"The Ferry Inn is a combination hotel/pub with breakfast included on our booking. We ate dinner both nights in the pub restaurant. The food was good & they had several choices for each course. The location was excellent for the Scrabaster/Stromness ferry & it was easy to navigate to Kirkwall & all the sights."

"We booked online last minute called up to say we would arrive in 30 minutes, the staff was very eel and helpful.
We was shown to our room then went down for an evening meal, the food was excellent and we was made to feel as part of the family, it is a lovely warm feel place with lovely people and the rooms was amazing the bed was so comfortable.
Breakfast was delicious and plentiful we would highly recommend staying in the Manor and meeting this lovely family it’s one of the best I have ever stayed in."
"We were in The Shore room 14, not part of main property which was still great except for the staining from water damage on the ceiling directly over the head of the bed. "
