"This is an older hotel, but beautifully maintained and immaculately clean. The location is perfect, right on the Avalon waterfront and an easy walk to all that Avalon has to offer. Our room had a bit of an ocean view, which was greatly appreciated. The staff is friendly and helpful, but there were a couple of things. First, maid service is only by request, which we did not know, so the room went uncleaned for a couple days. Second, the included continental breakfast offers the barest minimum of choices and could easily be improved with a bit more variety. "

Even the drivers were really helpful and friendly. 15 minute walk to the plaza area, which is like your downtown area. Easier to walk to the plaza than it is to come back due to it being up hill! Highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again."
"This was a perfect small hotel to stay at during our visit to Catalina Island. It was in a great location. The room and bathroom were small, but we did not require much room. Breakfast was provided which was enough variety with eggs, sausage, bagels, cereal, coffee/tea. There was also wine and cheese offered in the afternoon. The best part was the rooftop lounge area which we used to hang out during different times of the day. It has a spectacular view and is a quiet space to relax and enjoy. The staff was helpful, friendly and attentive. On the day we checked out, our ferry wasn’t leaving until later in the day and we were able to continue using the hotel as our “home base” to change, use the restroom, get water and coffee. This was super helpful so we could enjoy the day. Overall, our experience was wonderful and we would stay there again. "

"I traveled solo to the lodge for a much needed time of rest and recharging. My time at the Banning House did not disappoint. It was incredibly relaxing, quiet and peaceful. I felt at home being able to lounge in any of the many comfy nooks and read. The wine and cheese experience was wonderful and the ability to grab a snack or a refreshment at any time was great. I had the most amazingly comfortable bed. I can honestly say that I had the best night of sleep in a very long time. The staff was very kind and helpful. I am very appreciative of my time spent there."
