Our room was spacious, clean and the bed was huge and comfortable. In addition, we had a kettle, microwave, hub and sink. We were pleased to be able to park our car securely at the back of the house. We had our dog with us which was welcome for a small fee - the hotel is surrounded by fields offering fantastic exercise opportunity after a day in the car. Pool looked very nice but we didn’t have chance to use it - opened at midday and we needed to leave before then. We had pizzas which were good. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We broke down in Tournus due to a puncture, had to wait two days for new tyres, but managed to find this hidden gem, everything about it was amazing and could not fault it, pool, food and especially Catharine who helped us with taxis and speaking to the garage on our behalf, it certainly took away the pain of missing two days of our holiday, would and have recommended to all friends. "Was only hotel in area I wanted to be. Very small room, and bathroom. Later than normal check in time. Various staff, most try to be helpful. Breakfast cost was high for continental type. Couple of breads, cakes, cereal, drinks. One nice aspect is location is close to rest / truck stop with 4-5 places to eat, but high costs. Gas station has supermarket. Need a vehicle for doing anything around area. Rural country area other than main highway. They seem to keep many rooms booked, since only hotel around. Overall rating compared to other hotels is a level 1 star type hotel. "
"The Hotel Les Saules is a wonderful hotel that is a must for that trip away for any reason. The staff are personable and welcoming; very professional. Vonnas is this beautiful little town in France that is a hot bed of culinary excellence and the gem of the hospitality industry.
Our room was lovely and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean and well thought out. Our room looked out over the square of the town which also served as the parking lot for everything, yet it was part of the park. We had a balcony where you could order breakfast, but don't do that. Go to the breakfast they have at their neighboring restaurant. It must be a training ground for the next set of Michelin star chefs. The food was beyond amazing. It was not overpriced and worth every penny that you pay. Everything is fresh and delicious. NOTE: Make reservations in their restaurant in advance especially during the summer season. There are two types of services: the restaurant and the Food Tasting Menu. The restaurant is ala carte and the Food Tasting Menu is expensive, but if you are a foodie, this is your moment of joy. RESERVATIONS for either are a must.
Everything is close by and quaint. Definitely a highlight of our stays."
